The present invention relates to a control apparatus for an internal combustion engine provided with a controlled object (63, 52) that variably controls a control amount related to the internal combustion engine, and an actuator for changing the operation state of the controlled object. The control apparatus is provided with an actuator control means for determining a control signal to be given to the actuator for feedback-control of the drive state of the actuator such that a target operation state can be achieved, and feeding the determined control signal to the actuator. The operation state of the controlled object is changed by driving the actuator when the combustion chamber is not supplied with fuel, and the time between the start of driving of the actuator and the start of change in the control amount is measured as a control amount change delay time. A feedback gain used for the determination of the control signal by the actuator control means is set in view of the measured control amount change delay time. |
