A thermal system includes a battery pack coolant loop (102), a cabin coolant loop (104), a power electronics coolant loop (106) and a plurality of controllable valves (VI -V5) controlled by a controller (228) to select thermal modes by controlling flow paths of coolant in one or more of the coolant loops.
