Disclosed are a method for editing skin of a client and a skin editor. The method comprises: displaying a background image in a background image display area; generating a snapshot of a client; when moving the snapshot of the client in the background image display area, determining a position of the snapshot of the client in the background image display area, and capturing an image of an area covered by the snapshot of the client according to the position; and updating the skin of the client according to the captured area image. The flexibility of changing the skin of a client can be improved by applying the present invention.
