Control device for AC/DC power converter and method for implementing same

The device has a control module (26) whose calculation blocks (38) respectively receive opening angle values (30) from registers of a microcontroller (20), and values (37) of angular position of a rotor relative to a stator. The blocks provide a full wave control information (42) and a masking value (44) calculated as a function of a defined opening angle. Combinational logic blocks (40) of the module combine the information and the masking value to provide control signals (SC1-SC6) to power switches e.g. MOSFETs, to be operated in reduced- or full-wave mode according to the masking value. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for controlling an alternating current-to-direct current converter (2) an alterno-starter for a motor vehicle.
