<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing device provided with a function for assisting a user in reproducing unreproduced video recorded data without forgetting to reproduce the data. <P>SOLUTION: The recording and reproducing device of this invention includes a broadcast receiving part for receiving a broadcast wave to acquire reproduction information from the broadcast wave, a recording part capable of recording the reproduction information, and a reproduction processing part for performing reproduction processing of the reproduction information stored in the recording part. Further, the recording and reproducing device includes a notification image generating part for discriminating unreproduced information from the reproduction information recorded in the recording part, generating a notification image being an image showing the unreproduced information and recording the notification image in the recording part, and a notification image reproducing part for reading the notification image from the recording part and reproducing the notification image.
