<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a decapping device for improving efficiency in a decapping work and prolonging a life by omitting a decapping operation with respect to a holding part string where the decapping operation by a decapping mechanism is not required. <P>SOLUTION: A controller 150 of a decapping device 100 includes: a photosensor 154 for detecting the existence of caps C of tubes T held in the holding parts H of respective holding part strings by holding part string unit at a decapping position where a decapping mechanism 110 performs a decapping operation; and cap existence determination means for determining the existence of the caps C of the tubes T by holding part string at the decapping position on the basis of the detection result of the photosensor 154. When the presence of the cap C is determined by the cap existence determination means, the controller 150 allows the decapping mechanism 110 to perform the decapping operation.
