The device (1) has a transmitter (18) and an antenna unit (7) e.g. horn antenna, provided with a coupling element (10), which radiates and receives linearly polarized microwave in a plane of polarization. A microwave-transmissive process separator (9) is inserted into a waveguide (8) for process isolation between the coupling element and a radiation element (15) e.g. planar antenna. The plane of polarization of the linearly polarized microwaves radiating coupling element is rotatably arranged to the waveguide and/or to the process separator. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a level measuring device.
