<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat-sensitive recording medium which has no uneven color development and has excellent image quality, and to provide a method for producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The heat-sensitive recording medium including a paper support having a density of 0.50 to 0.80 g/cm<SP POS="POST">3</SP>and containing 15 to 35 mass% of calcium carbonate, and an undercoat layer containing an adhesive and a heat-sensitive recording layer containing leuco dye and a developer on the support.
