<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for treatment that treats copper-containing acidic waste liquid, such as copper chloride-containing etching waste liquid and renewal waste liquid of an electrolytic copper foil plating bath, without requiring complex equipment, and simultaneously obtains treated water with good water quality. <P>SOLUTION: The method for neutralization of copper-containing acidic waste liquid and recovery of copper is provided, in which the copper-containing acidic waste liquid is poured and mixed into an alkaline solution having an amount not less than a neutralization equivalent relative to the copper-containing acidic waste liquid, producing a suspension that contains a solid material including copper oxide as a main component, and the solid material is separated from the suspension; wherein (1) the copper-containing acidic waste liquid is poured and mixed into the alkaline solution after mixed with an oxidant until 70-90% of the total pouring amount of the copper-containing acidic waste liquid relative to the alkaline solution is poured from the start of the reaction, and (2) after the total pouring amount of the copper-containing acidic waste liquid exceeds the amount, the copper-containing acidic waste liquid is poured and mixed into the alkaline solution without using the oxidant.
