PURPOSE: A system for sending a short message and a method thereof are provided to transmit a short message from SMSC to a reception terminal by converting a multimedia message of MMSC to the short message. CONSTITUTION: A message transfer system(1) includes a WiFi gateway(10), a MMSC(Multimedia Message Service Center)(20), and a SMSC(Short Message Service Center)(30). A multimedia message of the MMSC is analyzed. If the multimedia message is received through a predetermined network, the MMSC converts the multimedia message to the short message.
