PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the power consumption in, for example, an electro-optic device employing a matrix driving system.

SOLUTION: A control method of an electro-optic device controls a driving unit so that a reference potential (GND) is supplied to all of a plurality of data lines in a period between a first selection period and a second selection period on condition that a first sum (N2V) being the sum of the number of data lines supplied with a low potential (VL) in the first selection period and supplied with a high potential (VH) in the second selection period and the number of data lines supplied with the high potential in the first selection period and supplied with the low potential in the second selection period is larger than a second sum (N0) being the sum of the number of data lines supplied with the low potential in the first selection period and supplied with the low potential in the second selection period and the number of data lines supplied with the high potential in the first selection period and supplied with the high potential in the second selection period.
