<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the vertical supports thinner and lighter than conventional ones, concerning a safety handrail attached to a framework scaffold used in a construction site or a civil engineering work. <P>SOLUTION: A safety handrail A is attached to a framework scaffold comprising: a plurality of frame bodies B each consisting of a pair of front and rear stringers 1, 1 and horizontal members 2 installed between the stringers 1, 1 and arranged in line laterally; and a scaffold board 3 installed between the horizontal members 2, 2 of the frame bodies B, B facing each other. The safety handrail A includes a handrail body 4 arranged between the stringers 1, 1 of the frame bodies B, B facing each other and having a pair of left and right vertical supports 40l, 40r.
