The installation has a hot water supply (EC) supplying hot water from a boiler (1). A wastewater heat recovery unit having a heat exchanger (3) includes a cold water circuit (EF) for distributing water to the boiler and a wastewater collecting circuit (EUC) for collecting wastewater from an apparatus e.g. wash basin (4). The circuits are arranged to exchange heat so as to provide heated water (EFR) to the boiler. The heat exchanger is formed in the form of a coil wound according to predetermined dimensions so as to have length for a given size of the heat exchanger.
