PURPOSE: A position detecting device is provided to detect an absolute rotating position of a motor with a single resolver, thereby obtaining a position detecting device capable of easily achieving miniaturization with a simple configuration. CONSTITUTION: A position detecting device comprises a resolver stator(1b), a resolver rotor(1a), and a calculation unit. The resolver stator is arranged as a circular form around a rotation central axis of a motor. The resolver stator comprises a plurality of saw blades. A position detecting coil is wound in the saw blades. The resolver rotor comprises n-number of the saw blades. The saw blades are arranged in a circular shape eccentric from the rotation central axis. The calculation unit calculates an absolute rotation position of the motor based on the signal amplitude and phase of detection signals.
