PURPOSE: A filter for removing phosphorus from sewage and wastewater using porous metals and a manufacturing method of the same are provided to extract and recycle phosphorus and to suppress the generation of sludge. CONSTITUTION: A filter for removing phosphorus from sewage and wastewater uses a porous metal. The average pore size of the porous metal is in a range between 0.1 and 10mm. The porosity of the porous metal is in a range between 50 and 90%. The surface of the porous metal is reformed to form nanowhisker structures. Hydroxyl groups are formed on the surface of the porous metal. The porous metal is made of copper or copper alloy. A manufacturing method of the filter includes the following steps: the porous metal is immersed in an oxidizer such that the surface of the porous metal is oxidized; the oxidized porous metal is immersed in an alkali aqueous solution to be alkali treated.
