<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telephone set which can give notice of the existence of a user with a high probability at the time of emergency such as a natural disaster. <P>SOLUTION: At a slave unit, an earthquake mode is a mode to determine a mode to be taken thereafter. Receiving an emergency earthquake prompt report means that there is a high possibility of the occurrence of a big earthquake. Therefore, there is a possibility that a master unit may go out of order, and communication between the master unit and the slave unit cannot be performed. Thus, at S220, the slave unit determines whether or not the master unit transmits a command. And if the slave unit has not received a command from the master unit, the slave unit switches to a second mode in which slave stations associate with each other without going through the master unit because it is highly likely that the master unit may be out of order.
