PURPOSE: A separator is provided to supplement strength of a substrate, and to improve tear strength of a whole part. CONSTITUTION: A separator comprises: a substrate consisting of porous membrane; and a surface layer formed on at least one side of the substrate, having a plurality of micropores and comprising a vinylidene fluoride-tetrafluoroethylene-hexafluoropropylene copolymer. The porous membrane is that a film consisting of resin material is monoaxially elongated. The content of monomer unit originated from the hexafluoropropylene in the surface layer is 5-15 mol% based on the copolymer. A nonaqueous electrolyte battery comprises a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a non-aqueous electrolyte, and the separator. |
