The purpose of the present invention is to provide an electrophoretic display device that can be more easily manufactured. This electrophoretic display device comprises: a substrate (2); a plurality of pixel electrode units (3) formed for each pixel of the substrate (2); a voltage applying means for applying a voltage to the pixel electrode units (3); and a charged-particle housing chamber (5) for housing colored charged particles (51), the charged-particle housing chamber being disposed so as to extend over the plurality of pixel electrode units (3). Each of the pixel electrode units (3) has a first electrode (31) disposed in the center of the pixel, and a second electrode (32) disposed in a peripheral edge portion of the pixel.
