[Also in Group XXV] A bearing pin 21 is rigidly secured to a swivelling member such as an armature 51 of a relay by drilling a hole 23 to a predetermined depth in the end of the pin, inserting the drilled end of the pin into a hole in the swivelling member, and forcing a ball 31 larger in diameter than the drilled hole in the pin entirely into such hole to expand the pin in the swivelling member. As the pin 21 is expanded by a ball 31 at each end, the resulting elastic deformation of the pin and armature 51 causes a throat of lesser diameter than the balls to be formed at each end of the pin so as to prevent the balls from falling out of the holes 23 during operation of the armature. The balls 31, pin 21 and armature 51 are formed from materials having different values of the Modulus of Elasticity and are supported from a frame by means of a bracket 11 in which the armature rotates.</p> |
