The apparatus (10) has pivot supports (50, 50') mounted on a frame (11) laterally with respect to an occluser (30) by first and second mounting units e.g. mounting base (51). Each support comprises a horizontal pivot-holder (56) for provisional maintenance of pivots oriented toward the occluser along connection direction. The first and second mounting units and a third mounting unit e.g. movable support (20), allow relative sliding connection of the occluser with the support so as to bring closer and to insert the pivots in a gutter carried by a dental model maintained in the occluser. An independent claim is also included for a method for placing metallic pivots of connecting rods.
