METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING CELLULOSE NANOFIBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cellulose nanofiber providing a cellulose nanofiber dispersion liquid having a high concentration but a low viscosity.

SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a cellulose nanofiber includes: (A) a step of oxidizing a cellulosic raw material originated from broad leaf trees whose hemicellulose content is <17 mass% in the presence of a compound selected from the group consisting of (a1) N-oxyl compounds and (a2) bromides, iodides and mixtures thereof by using (a3) an oxidant; and (B) a step of preparing a dispersion liquid in a concentration of ≥1% (w/v) of an oxidized cellulosic raw material obtained in the step A, and defibrillating the oxidized cellulosic raw material and dispersing it in a dispersion medium, thereby manufacturing the nanofiber.
