METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING CELLULOSE NANOFIBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a cellulose nanofiber providing a cellulose nanofiber dispersion liquid excellent in transparency and having a low viscosity.

SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a cellulose nanofiber includes: (A) a step of treating a cellulosic raw material in water of a hydroxide ion concentration of 0.75 to 3.75 mol/L; (B) a step of oxidizing a cellulosic raw material obtained in the step A in the presence of a compound selected from the group consisting of (a1) N-oxyl compounds and (a2) bromides, iodides and mixtures thereof by using (a3) an oxidizing agent; and (C) a step of preparing a dispersion liquid containing the cellulosic raw material obtained in the step B, defibrillating the oxidized cellulosic raw material, and dispersing it in a dispersion medium, thereby making the nanofiber.
