<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb filter capable of suppressing an initial pressure loss from increase and with a high initial trapping efficiency of particulates. <P>SOLUTION: The honeycomb filter includes a honeycomb base material having a porous partition wall matrix that compartmentalizes a plurality of cells serving as the flow path of fluid which extends from one end face to the other end face, a sealed part arranged in the opening of a predetermined cells at the end of a fluid inflow side which is the one end face and in the opening of a residual cells at the end of a fluid outflow side which is the other end face, and a porous capturing layer arranged on the surface of the partition wall matrix in the residual cells. The shape of cells is rectangle on a cross section perpendicular to the extended direction of the cells and the thickness of the part located at the corner of the cells is one to three times thicker than the one of the part located at the center of the cells. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
