<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a saddle type vehicle which exhibits excellence in loadability, appearance or the like while ensuring operation stability, loadability, or the like. <P>SOLUTION: A baggage loading carrier containing a substantially flat baggage loading surface on the top is freely detachably fixed to a seat rail 116 which is coupled to or freely detachably fixed to the rear part of a vehicle body frame for supporting a motor and suspension systems at front and rear sides. A recess 19 recessed toward a vehicle body front is provided at a rear end of the baggage loading carrier. The carrier is covered with a mat 11. The mat 11 has a projection fitted to the recess 19 at the rear end of the carrier.
