Disclosed are a terminal device initialization method and device. The method includes: setting connection parameter information in a terminal device, with the connection parameter information being used for indicating that a device management gateway is used as a proxy gateway for the terminal device to connect a device management server; and setting a DMAcc management object corresponding to the device management server in the terminal device, so as to initialize the terminal device. The device management server includes an acquisition module, a parameter setup module and a management object setup module; and the device management gateway includes a parameter setup module and a management object setup module. The present embodiment realizes the initialization of the terminal device after the device management gateway works in the proxy mode.
