<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of prolonging the life of the image forming apparatus by bringing a sheet member into a stable contact with a belt, stabilizing the transfer electric field and suppressing unwanted wear between an image carrier and the belt and between the belt and the sheet member. <P>SOLUTION: A representative configuration of the image forming apparatus includes: a photoreceptor drum 101 which carries a toner image; an intermediate transfer belt 2 which comes into contact with the photoreceptor drum 101 and moves; a sheet member; and a compression spring 104e which presses the sheet member 104a against the intermediate transfer belt 2 at an opposing position against the photoreceptor drum 101. The image forming apparatus includes pressing force adjusting means (a movable side plate 104g, a cam 104h, arms 104i, and slits 104j) which adjusts the pressing force applied to the sheet member 104a against the intermediate transfer belt 2 in such a manner that the pressing force during non-image formation is smaller than that during image formation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
