PURPOSE: A method for operating a team of an online game and a device thereof are provided to enable a user to set formations for setting positions of characters of a team before a game. CONSTITUTION: Formations are set on a team management screen(S100). If a team management screen entering signal is received from a user terminal of a user, the team management screen is displayed on the user terminal(S200,S300). Detailed setup to one selected formation is applied from the user terminal so that at least one formation information is set(S400). If a formation addition request signal is received from the user terminal, it is determined whether previous formations are smaller than the maximum formations. A formation is added(S500).
