<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a catalyst, as well as the catalyst, which can improve heat resistance and also can easily provide purification characteristics suited to various engine characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing the catalyst includes: a first aqueous solution preparation step S1 for preparing an aqueous solution that contains zirconium; a first pore filling step S2 for filling the pores with the aqueous solution by a pore filling method; a first drying/firing step S3 for drying and firing a porous alumina, the pores of which are filled with the aqueous solution, to form a zirconia layer in each pore; a second aqueous solution preparation step S4 for preparing an aqueous solution that contains a noble metal; a second pore filling step S5 for filling the pores with the aqueous solution obtained in the second aqueous solution preparation step S4 by a pore filling method; and a second drying/firing step S6 for drying and firing the porous alumina, the pores of which are filled with the aqueous solution, to support the noble metal within the pores that have been provided with the zirconia layers. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
