A shoe comprising a pressure sensor connected to a feedback system, e.g. providing a pressure threshold-related visual, auditory or sensory signal to a patient who is limited to partial weight bearing following injury or surgery. The sensor may comprise a removable electronic or mechanical pressure transducer under the heel and optionally the front part of the foot. The pressure limit may be varied by means of a dial and may be set to a percentage (e.g. 50%, 75%) of the patientâ s weight. The feedback may comprise an alarm; colour-coded lights; vibrations in the sole of the shoe or transmitted to a wrist or leg band; or words or sounds emitted via speakers in the shoe or transmitted (e.g. wirelessly) to an ear-piece or bracelet. The shoe may include ties and may be adjusted to a range of sizes. |
