PROCESS FOR REDUCING RESIDUALS CONTENT IN STYRENE POLYMERS

The present invention relates to a process for reducing residuals content in a styrene polymer, said residuals comprising from 100 to 1000 ppm and comprising essentially unpolymerized styrene monomer, wherein the styrene polymer in the molten state is brought in contact with a solid in powder capable to catalyze the alkylation of said residual styrene monomer on the styrene polymer. Advantage of the present invention is a sharp reduction of the unpolymerized styrene monomer in the styrene polymer without generating a new residual and without inducing a colored styrene polymer.
