<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultracompact optical fiber amplifier capable of minimizing the optical module size and enhancing the degree of freedom in module implementation for mounting a board. <P>SOLUTION: An ultracompact optical fiber amplifier includes: an optical module 100 having a plurality of optical elements disposed therein, an input port for drawing an optical fiber 200 inside of a module and an output port for drawing the fiber outside the module; and the optical fiber 200 having a curvature radius adequate for avoiding a breakage of the optical fiber 200 at the outside the optical module 100, which is drawn in or out to/from the optical module 100 through the input port or the output port and coupled to the optical elements disposed in the optical module. In the optical fiber amplifier, the optical fiber 200 for mutually coupling optical elements constituting the optical fiber amplifier, is disposed outside the optical module 100.
