The device has two hinge parts (7, 8) swingable around a common hinge axle (6). One hinge part is swingable around a flap axle (9) and indirectly secured at a tailgate by a connection unit. The hinge part is pivotable around the hinge axle into a working position so that a large gap is formed between the tailgate and a wall portion (2), when the connection unit is loosened. The flap axle is arranged below or in front of the hinge axle in a closed position of the tailgate and behind and below or above the hinge axle or at the height of the hinge axle in a working position of the tailgate. The connection unit is a screw (11).
