The solar thermal energy power plant has interconnected shaft portions arranged in rotary manner, and shaft associated with each section, where each shaft portion is assigned with an angle sensor. A twisting angle sensor is arranged between two neighboring shaft portions. The electrical power is supplied to each drive (4) over supply conduits as alternating current with a frequency. Elements are provided for rotational movement of the angle-synchronous drives. An independent claim is included for a method for operating a solar thermal energy power plant.
