PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a map scroll device capable of securing safety of a running vehicle, even if scroll operation is permitted. SOLUTION: The map scrolling device is provided with a name identification processing section 7, which divides a surrounding area centering on the present position of a vehicle detected by a present position detecting section 4 and, by referring to a map database 1, identifies the names of a plurality of divided areas obtained by dividing the surrounding area. From the name identification processing section 7, the name of the divided area corresponding to the scroll direction of the map is obtained, and the name of the divided area is outputted in voice.
