Load coupling for power generation systems

A load coupling (20) for transmitting a torque load between a first shaft (14) and a second shaft (18) is disclosed. The load coupling (20) may generally include a first shaft segment (26) configured to be fixedly attached to the first shaft (14) and a second shaft segment (28) configured to be fixedly attached to the second shaft (18). The second shaft segment (28) may be frictionally fit within the first shaft segment (26) such that a frictional interface is defined between the first and second shaft segments (26, 28). Additionally, the frictional interface may be configured such that the first and second shaft segments (26, 28) rotationally disengage when the torque load exceeds a torque threshold and rotationally reengage when the torque load is reduced to or below the torque threshold.
