<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an audio output device in which a method for coping with a case where a volume setting value indicated by hardware volume is different from a volume setting value by software control. <P>SOLUTION: When a control part 11 receives an unlock operation, the control part 11 compares a volume setting value indicated by a VR 12 with a volume setting value stored in a setting storage part 15, and, if these volume setting values are not the same value, changes a volume setting value which is set to an amplifier 18 at a predetermined rate of change to the volume setting value indicated by the VR 12.
