PURPOSE: A power generating device for a ship and a method thereof are provided to generate electricity by amplifying the deformation of a piezoelectric element while moving mass members according to the predetermined position value of the mass members. CONSTITUTION: A power generating device for a ship comprises a power generating part, a sailing information providing part, a control part, and an actuating part. A piezoelectric element is attached on the surface of the power generating part and the power generating part generates electricity by vibrating cantilever members(320) containing mass members(330). The sailing information providing part provides information about the RPM of an engine or a propeller. The control part calculates resonant frequency by using the RPM, extracts the predetermined position value of the mass members corresponding to the resonant frequency, and provides actuating control signals according to the position value. The actuating part moves the mass members on the cantilever members according to the actuating control signals. |
