In order to do this, a synchronous machine comprising a stator and a rotor which is adapted to be able to rotate about an axis (3) in or about the stator is provided. Said synchronous machine also comprises a rotor winding (5') which is made of a high temperature super conductor. It also comprises a stator winding (2) and a damper winding (6) which is arranged between the rotor winding (5') and the stator winding (2). The leakage resonance of the rotor winding (5') in the d-axis (in the radial direction) is at least double the size of the leakage resonance of the damper winding (6) in the d-axis (in the radial direction).
