<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simplified test bench for a telescope, and a telescope allowing autotesting. <P>SOLUTION: The general field of this invention relates to the optical test of a telescope type optical instrument. An instrument (100) includes an optical lens (110), a photo-detecting case (120) arranged at the focus of an optical objective lens, and at least one light source (121) disposed adjacent to the photo-detecting case, and an optical pupil of the optical objective lens has a first diameter. Testing means fundamentally comprises: a plane mirror (130) having a second diameter smaller than the first diameter; means which allows the plane mirror to be disposed so that an image of light of the light source, which is given by the optical objective lens and is reflected by the plane mirror, is focused on the photo-detecting case; and means which analyzes the received image to allow determination of the optical quality of a telescope. The plane mirror may be combined with an autonomous test bench.
