<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical communication system that executes sleep control, and suppresses a frequency of data discard while reducing buffer capacity for holding reception data from outside. <P>SOLUTION: The optical communication system includes a station-side device 2 connected to a host device 1, and one or more subscriber-side devices 3 which are connected to the station-side device 2 through an optical fiber, and enter a sleep state in which transmission operation is stopped when permitted by the station-side device 2. The station-side device 2 actuates the subscriber-side device 3 in the sleep state among the subscriber devices 3 when receiving predictive notice of the start of transmission of down data from a host device 1, and does not permit any of the subscriber-side devices 3 to enter a sleep state until notice of transmission completion of down data is received from the host device 1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
