A paint compsn. which is stable to biological degradation and to light contains, per 100 l paint, 120-600 g of a biocide of formula R-SO2CH I2 (where R is phenyl, alkylphenyl, dialkylphenyl, benzyl, chlorobenzyl, dichlorobenzyl or 2-8C alkyl) and 0.25-5 pts. wt. per pt. wt. biocide of a phenyl-mercury acylate of formula R'-COOHg C6H5 or R" -(COOHg C6H5)2 (where R" is 2-18C alkylene or 1-19C alkyl, these gps. being free of or contg. one double bond). Used for external application in the building industry. Presence of the Hg cpd. prevents yellowing normally caused by use of the biocide. |
