<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reactive power compensation device which is adaptive to further changes of active power and reactive power. <P>SOLUTION: The reactive power compensation device outputs reactive power to a power system on a power factor constant control basis so as to stabilize a system voltage of a power system. The reactive power compensation device sets a reactive power upper-limit value Q<SB POS="POST">H</SB>and a reactive power lower-limit value Q<SB POS="POST">L</SB>above and below output reactive power Q<SB POS="POST">O</SB>, sets a reactive power set region Q<SB POS="POST">H-L</SB>based upon the reactive power upper-limit value Q<SB POS="POST">H</SB>as an upper limit and the reactive power lower-limit value Q<SB POS="POST">L</SB>as a lower limit, and makes changes so that the output reactive power Q<SB POS="POST">O</SB>is within the reactive power set region Q<SB POS="POST">H-L</SB>.
