<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method with which, when loading a membrane element in a pressure vessel, workability can be improved. <P>SOLUTION: When a membrane element 2 comprising a separation membrane is loaded in a cylindrical pressure vessel 7, the membrane element 2 is first inserted in the pressure vessel 7 so that the membrane element 2 may be put onto a lubricative board 4A in the pressure vessel 7. Next, the membrane element 2 is moved in an axial direction of the pressure vessel 7 while the board 4A is slid on an inner circumferential surface 7a of the pressure vessel 7.
