<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for a meter reader, the device including a freely detachable protective cover that protects a meter reader mirror, makes it possible to wipe off soil or rain drops on the window of a reading meter and furthermore making it possible to avoid sunlight striking on a mirror face, and a meter reader mirror. <P>SOLUTION: The device for a meter reader includes the meter reader mirror which includes a mirror part with a light reflecting face, a pole portion which supports the mirror part and extends and contracts freely, and an angle adjustment part which sets an inclination angle of the mirror part to the pole part and the protective cover covering the mirror part of the meter reader mirror. The protective cover is formed from a sponge material. One fastener face of a face fastener is stuck to the rear of the mirror part and the other fastener face is also stuck to the rear thereof. The protective cover can be attached to the mirror part so as to be freely detached.
