<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing device that embeds invisible information in a medium with transparent toner, and extracts the embedded invisible information without requiring a special functional material or a reading device. <P>SOLUTION: An image processing device scans, from an oblique direction, a document 101 on which transparent toner 102 is thickly applied, and detects, with a light receiving device 105, shadows 103 by an edge portion of a rectangular area on which the transparent toner 102 is applied.
