<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authentication system for accurately discriminating a genuine product. <P>SOLUTION: A body host instructs authentication start to an authentication chip master (S2). The body host instructs a timer counter to start timer count with an instruction of the authentication start (S12). The authentication chip master outputs a challenge code to an authentication chip slave in response to the instruction of execution of the authentication start of the body host (S4). The authentication chip slave executes encryption processing to the challenge code (S6). A result of the encryption processing is output as a response code (S8). Then, matching determination processing of the response code is executed (S9). The authentication chip master outputs the authentication result to the body host (S10).
