摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of optimizing preliminary heating conditions to prevent image deterioration by peeling discharge when separating a recording sheet. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises an endless belt a part of the outer peripheral surface of which contacts with an image carrier and which is driven to perform a circulating motion. The image forming apparatus allows a recording sheet to pass the contact part between the endless belt and the image carrier, electrostatically transfers an unfixed image formed on the image carrier to the recording sheet, makes the recording sheet electrostatically adsorb to the outer peripheral surface of the belt to convey to a separation position, and thermally fixes the image after separating the recording sheet from the belt. The image forming apparatus also comprises preliminary heating means which is provided within a section between the separation position and the contact part, and heats the unfixed image on the recording sheet from the outer peripheral surface side of the belt. The image forming apparatus estimates a molten state of the unfixed image preliminarily heated by the preliminary heating means before the start of a printing job, and based on the estimation result, a heat amount by the preliminary heating means is adjusted so that a molten area of the unfixed image is limited to the surface layer part thereof (S803-S806). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
