The present invention is provided with: an inner cylinder defining an inner chamber in which a piston slides; an outer cylinder provided outside the inner cylinder, with a reservoir chamber defined between the inner and outer cylinders; and a damping force control device (9) that controls the damping force by adjusting the amount of hydraulic oil flowing between the inner chamber and the reservoir chamber. The damping force control device (9) includes: a valve seat (11) formed protruding outside the outer cylinder, wherein an opening (12a) of a first communication passage (12) connected to the inner chamber and an opening (13a) of a second communication passage (13) connected to the reservoir chamber are formed; a valve body (15) that opens and closes by electromagnetic force on the valve seat (11) to control the flow of hydraulic oil between the first communication passage (12) and the second communication passage (13); and a cap (17) that defines, together with the valve seat (11) and the valve body (15), a variable pressure chamber (16) capable of connecting to the first communication passage (12) and the second communication passage (13), and that holds the valve body (15) and the valve seat (11) together. |
