PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a polyester film reduced in uneven drawing.

SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a polyester film includes: an extrusion process of supplying raw material polyester to a vent-type twin-screw extruder having a cylinder inner diameter D of 140 mm or more and 300 mm or less to melt-extrude a polyester sheet under the conditions that the cylinder inner diameter D, an extrusion amount Q (kg/hr.) per unit time and a screw rotation speed N (rpm) satisfy the following expression (I) while applying 0.01-5% of fluctuation to the screw rotation speed N; and a cooling/solidification process of cooling and solidifying the polyester sheet.
