<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damper mechanism for preventing abrasion of a gear edge surface that can be installed to an engine starter regardless of a size of a pinion gear. <P>SOLUTION: A starter 1 has a drive shaft 4 driven by an electric motor 2, and an overrunning clutch 5 that is movable in an axial direction on the drive shaft 4. The overrunning clutch 5 includes a clutch outer 56 and a clutch inner 57 connected to the clutch outer 56 via a roller 58. The clutch inner 57 is a body separated from a pinion gear 6, and in between them, a damper mechanism 90 is arranged for absorbing a pressing pressure force F in the axial direction caused by a contacting of the pinion gear 6 and a ring gear 8. The damper mechanism 90 includes a clutch side fitting part 93, a pinion side fitting part 95, and a pinion spring 96, and the pressure force F can be absorbed by a deformation of the pinion spring 96. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
